We are pleased to announce that our proposal has been selected for Akita Prefecture’s project to hold a conference on creating a prosperous longevity society.
Through a symposium, the project aims to build a shared understanding, among residents and businesses in the prefecture, of the challenges of a super-aged society and of the need for technology that helps solve them, and to build momentum toward solutions. Meta Akita will be responsible for planning and running the symposium, which is hosted by Akita Prefecture. The symposium is scheduled for January 2027, and the program is planned to include a keynote lecture by an expert on AgeTech and a panel discussion.
Since formulating the Akita AgeTech Hub Initiative in August 2025, we have continued our advocacy to Akita Prefecture and held a series of study sessions. The initiative aims to make Akita, which has the highest aging rate in Japan, one of the world’s leading innovation hubs for AgeTech. We regard this symposium as the first step toward that goal.
Under the initiative, we will proceed in stages, starting from this symposium: a recurring conference that brings together companies and researchers from Japan and abroad, real-world pilots in care and medical settings across the prefecture, and then funding and market expansion for the businesses those pilots validate. We believe that Akita, where the challenges of aging surface earlier than elsewhere, offers unmatched conditions for creating and testing solutions. Our long-term goal is the creation of an Akita-born company valued at over 100 billion yen.
Beyond that, we envision an Akita where technology is an established part of care and medical practice, where local businesses grow by treating AgeTech as a new opportunity, and where younger generations have more options to work and start businesses in the prefecture. We believe the knowledge built in Akita will also serve as a precedent for regions in Japan and abroad that will face population aging in the years ahead.
We will share the details of the symposium as soon as they are finalized. We will deliver this project steadily and contribute, from Akita, to the realization of a prosperous longevity society.
The results were announced on August 12, 2026, the day Meta Akita marked the fourth anniversary of its founding. We are delighted to have reached this milestone, and we are sincerely grateful to everyone who has supported us. We will continue to devote ourselves to the revitalization of regional communities.
